UU the Vote this Sunday!

This Sunday, March 2, in Fellowship Hall after the service, help get out the vote for the most important election of 2025 in the nation -- Wisconsin’s election on April 1, with early voting beginning March 18.

Between 11 a.m. and 12 noon on Sunday, we will distribute blank postcards with instructions and voter name and address lists for you to take home, write, and mail.

This postcard campaign is organized by the Wisconsin Unitarian Universalist State Action Network (WUUSAN).

The demographics of the voter list are primarily People of Color and women between the ages of 18 and 35.

This Wisconsin election will have a critical impact on access to abortion care in Wisconsin, on voting rights, and on the nation at large, including the Congressional midterm elections in 2026.  The key race we are focusing on is Wisconsin Supreme Court judge, as that court is expected to decide cases on election maps, voting rights, and abortion access.

The postcards will need stamps.  If you are able to cover the cost of stamps for your postcards, thank you!  If you need stamps, please let us know as soon as possible, and we will try to provide postage.  The postcards need to be mailed close to March 14 or 15.

If you want to make a difference and can clearly print messages to voters, please pick up a packet of postcards on Sunday.

WHAT IS AT STAKE

One of 2025’s Biggest Battles Over Abortion Rights Has Already Begun

A contest for control of Wisconsin’s top court may be even nastier and more expensive than its bitter 2023 predecessor, with the fate of an 1849 abortion ban and other policies at stake.

Critical Wisconsin Supreme Court election

The outcome of the Wisconsin Supreme Court election may impact the direction of national politics and policy throughout the rest of 2025 and into the critical 2026 midterm elections. Why? Because Wisconsin, as it has been in every election in the 21st Century, is the most closely contested “swing state” in the nation, and election decisions made by the Wisconsin Supreme Court this year and next could very well set the tone for all that follow -- not just in Wisconsin but nationally.
